It has been truly joyful revisiting this happy weekend in order to post an album of highlights from the professional photographer-but, IMPOSSIBLE (for me) to narrow the photos down to 20. I feel joy and connected to every moment – this was an extra fun and joyful ‘Journey to I Do’ for me, as, Amy, living in Dallas, reached out to see if I might be willing to come to The Quad Cities for the weekend of her wedding. Amy had been a Bridesmaid in a wedding we did for her friend, Nicole, a couple years prior (The ‘W’ Wedding at The Prairie Street Brewhouse). Although, I don’t remember actually getting to talk to Amy on that day – we interacted throughout the day of course, as I was directing and corralling the large wedding party at times to keep the day flowing as planned. I remembered her instantly, as I found her way infectious and loved that her boyfriend (now Handsome Prince) had flown in from Texas to join her for the reception. I learned that Amy’s Super Sissy, had gotten married the year before and had executed the day herself and it was grand and full of details. Amy just didn’t want to ‘own’ it all on her day and went on to say that Nicole’s wedding was the best wedding that she’d ever been to or in! You can imagine how tickled pink I was to hear that!
So, posted here are some of the details and sweet moments from this fun weekend. We began on Thursday at Amy’s parents, for the Birthday Celebration of Amy’s Groom, Andrew. Then Friday – was the loveliest of Bridesmaid Lunches I have ever gotten to attend, then trolley’s were the mode of transportation for the wedding party to Ascension Chapel at Augustan College (where Amy and her parents attended) and guests from hotels to Crow Valley CC for a very special Rehearsal, in which, I got to help Andrew’s parents plan. After dinner, all boarded trolleys back to The Blackhawk Hotel for an After Party and then down to The Blackhawk Martini Bar and Bowl for the After-After Party. (Can you see why I was in Planner’s Heaven!? Trolleys and Martini’s and Bowling, OH MY! and Amy and Family hosted me at said Hotel — it was heaven, you should make a reservation to stay at The Blackhawk right now) and then alas, the day we’d been dreaming of and emailing about and text-ing through lunch hours —> and it was one for the books! What you won’t see is all the tradition that Amy values – a kiss under the Bell Tower located behind Ascension Chapel on Campus…or Grampa Honey’s Bible, present for the ceremony, …you won’t hear all the toasts and her Groom honoring his In-Laws and singing a song to Amy at The Rehearsal in front of us all, not because he’s a singing-type of guy (although he did ‘mighty fine’) but because it would make Amy happy. Amy and Andrew live in Dallas with their four-legged LOVES, Zoe and Sam. Andrew is an attorney, in the process of writing a book for his firm and Amy now works for President Bush. How about that?!? — she’s not just a Pretty Face! Kiss Kiss, Kelly
